Bank of Indonesia has published its latest Business Survey, indicating business activity was maintained in the first quarter of 2026, with a positive Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 10.11%. Most sectors recorded a positive WNB in the first quarter, led by Financial Services, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing, the Manufacturing Industry, and Wholesale and Retail Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles, in line with seasonal demand around Chinese New Year, the Day of Silence, Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr 1447 H, and the start of the harvest season. Production capacity utilisation rose to 73.33% from 73.15% in the fourth quarter of 2025, supported by Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing and the Manufacturing Industry, while corporate financial conditions remained sound in liquidity and profitability alongside looser access to credit. The expected second-quarter improvement is driven mainly by ongoing food crop harvesting, increased Mining and Quarrying activity associated with lower rainfall, and Construction activity linked to the start of several projects.
