The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance has issued a resolution updating the insurance rules for vehicles used in passenger transport to reflect the new transport regulatory framework. The main change is that interjurisdictional transport services, free-offer services and services that no longer fall within the "public service" category must continue to carry civil liability insurance, but now under the general conditions set out in the General Insurance Activity Regulation rather than under separate special regimes. The resolution also requires those covers to be sold through a uniform policy model, replacing the special policy regimes previously in force. The obligation to maintain civil liability insurance remains unchanged, but the terms under which it is marketed are being standardized. In addition, the measure removes administrative requirements linked to taking out the insurance and changing insurer where those requirements had become outdated or duplicated existing supervisory mechanisms. The change forms part of the gradual implementation of the broader passenger transport reforms being introduced by the national government.
