The Department of Finance (Philippines) announced that Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto has been named Special Envoy of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and will head the Philippine delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24, 2025, with a focus on securing investment commitments. The Department of Finance said Recto will engage international partners on investments spanning high-impact industries, logistics, workforce development, and initiatives linked to artificial intelligence and financial inclusion. The agenda includes hosting a global investor economic briefing at the Philippine Breakfast Interaction alongside House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque, and Ambassador Manuel Antonio J. Teehankee, with participation from private-sector representatives; the briefing will highlight the recent enactment of the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act. Recto is also scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings with global banks, manufacturers, and technology companies to discuss potential investment and expansion. Further engagements include participation in the ASEAN Leaders for Just Energy Transition Forum, a lunch with economic forecasters representing the Asia Pacific region, and a Tony Blair Institute and Coinbase forum on governing in the age of AI and digital assets. Recto is also scheduled for interviews with Bloomberg and Reuters.
