The People's Bank of China reported that Vice Governor Zou Lan attended the 2025 Budapest Renminbi Initiative forum in Hungary, delivered remarks, and met Hungarian National Bank officials to discuss deepening bilateral currency cooperation and promoting local-currency use in trade and investment. The forum, co-hosted by the Hungarian National Bank and Bank of China’s Hungary branch, covered the Hungarian National Bank’s Renminbi Program framework and development, China–Hungary financial cooperation, and renminbi business opportunities for Central and Eastern European financial institutions. Remarks were also delivered by Hungarian National Bank Governor Varga, the Chinese Embassy in Hungary’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Yang Chao, and Bank of China President Zhang Hui. During the event, Zou met Hungarian National Bank deputy governors Palotai and Kuraly to exchange views on the cooperation agenda.
