The Central Bank of Peru reported that the trade surplus for the 12 months through June 2026 reached USD 44.882 billion, up 62.8% from USD 27.561 billion a year earlier. The monthly surplus was USD 3.169 billion, USD 373 million higher than in June 2025, as exports rose 23.4% to USD 8.906 billion and imports increased 29.7% to USD 5.737 billion. Export growth was driven by a 26.6% increase in average prices, particularly for copper and gold, alongside higher prices for oil, natural gas, fish meal and lead. In the first half of 2026, exports rose 37.6% to USD 56.438 billion, while imports increased 21.5% to USD 33.682 billion, mainly reflecting higher purchases of capital goods and inputs. The resulting first-half trade surplus widened to USD 22.756 billion from USD 13.306 billion a year earlier.
