The People's Bank of China announced it will begin issuing the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park commemorative coin programme from 15 April 2025, comprising three coins that are legal tender of the People’s Republic of China. The set includes a bimetallic copper-alloy commemorative coin with a CNY 10 denomination, 27 mm diameter and an issuance volume of 50 million, to be distributed through a reservation-and-exchange mechanism and to circulate at par with existing CNY 10 banknotes and coins. It also includes two proof precious metal coins: a 3 g round gold coin (CNY 50 face value, 18 mm diameter, 99.9% fineness) with a maximum mintage of 10,000, and a 30 g round silver coin (CNY 10 face value, 40 mm diameter, 99.9% fineness) with a maximum mintage of 30,000; these will be minted by Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd., with China Gold Coin Group Co., Ltd. acting as the sole distributor. The release includes annexes covering regional allocation for the bimetallic coin, operational arrangements for issuance, and public anti-counterfeiting features.
