The Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units announced that its 26th annual Working and Regional Group meetings will be held in Tanzania from 26 to 30 January 2026, hosted by Tanzania’s Financial Intelligence Unit. More than 400 Egmont Group representatives, international partners, observers and guests are expected to participate, with discussions focused on secure information sharing, technology and data matching, and regional anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) insights. The week’s agenda includes work on safeguarding the operational independence and autonomy of financial intelligence units, advancing technology and artificial intelligence adoption, and strengthening cross-regional responses to environmental crime, cyber threats, global risk assessments, public-private partnerships, and money laundering and terrorist financing risks. Delegates will also receive updates on the ECOFEL certification program, review membership applications and the Support and Compliance Process, elect Regional Representatives and Working Group leadership, collaborate with partners including the Financial Action Task Force, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the International Monetary Fund, and organise a training initiative related to international exposure of FIUs.
