The Central Bank of Paraguay announced that it has reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund under which the BCP Institute becomes the official host of the IMF Regional Training Program for South America and Mexico. Signed in Washington, the arrangement establishes Paraguay as a base for IMF-led regional capacity building in economic and financial policy. The program began in March 2025 and is intended to provide specialized training for public sector officials across the region. Training will be coordinated between the BCP Institute and the IMF Institute for Capacity Development and will focus on macroeconomic analysis, fiscal risk management, financial sector policies, and emerging issues including climate change, the digitalization of finance and anti-money laundering. The program is expected to offer up to eight in-person courses a year, with 25 to 35 participants per course. Target participants include staff from central banks, finance ministries, financial supervisory agencies and national statistics offices, selected through nomination and or application by their government institutions.
