The Taiwan Financial Services Commission published its June 2026 update on foreign portfolio investment, showing that foreign investors were net sellers across Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange listed shares by a combined NT$835.64 billion as of June 30. Inward remittance flows remained positive, with total net inward remittances of USD 11.634 billion during June and cumulative net inward remittances reaching USD 396.943 billion at month-end. Foreign investors bought NT$41,259.44 billion of Taiwan Stock Exchange listed shares and NT$7,940.77 billion of Taipei Exchange listed shares, while selling NT$42,084.17 billion and NT$7,954.05 billion respectively, producing net sales of NT$824.73 billion on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and NT$13.28 billion on the Taipei Exchange. Mainland area investors were net buyers of NT$2.66 billion in Taiwan Stock Exchange listed shares and net sellers of NT$0.29 billion in Taipei Exchange listed shares. June net inward remittances comprised USD 11.631 billion from offshore foreign institutional and individual investors and USD 0.003 billion from mainland area investors. The release also noted that mainland area investors engaging in financial investment in Taiwan are limited to qualified institutional investors approved by the relevant mainland securities, banking, or insurance authority.
