The National Bank of Poland published preliminary balance-of-payments data showing that the current account deficit widened to PLN 9.4 billion in June 2026 from PLN 1.9 billion a year earlier. A PLN 16.6 billion services surplus was outweighed by deficits in primary income of PLN 18.9 billion, goods trade of PLN 6.2 billion and secondary income of PLN 0.9 billion. Goods exports rose 12.1% year over year to PLN 136.3 billion, while imports increased 16.7% to PLN 142.5 billion, deepening the trade deficit as fuel and intermediate-goods imports grew. The primary income deficit deteriorated by PLN 1.9 billion from June 2025, driven mainly by PLN 15 billion of income earned by foreign direct investors on equity investments in Polish entities.
