The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo announced that Governor Ahmet Ismaili held an official meeting in Paris with European Banking Authority Chair José Manuel Campa, centred on expanding institutional cooperation and exploring EBA support for aligning Kosovo’s banking legal and regulatory framework with the EU acquis. The discussion covered cooperation on financial stability, banking supervision, consumer protection, crypto-assets, digital finance and cybersecurity. Ismaili also briefed on the central bank’s current priorities, including reforms to banking supervision, modernisation of payment infrastructure, progress in Kosovo’s pre-application process for Single Euro Payments Area membership, and work with the Bank of Italy on building a fast payments system. Potential EBA assistance was linked to an equivalence project being developed by the central bank with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
