The Central Bank of Barbados is recruiting a Payment Oversight Officer for the Payments Oversight Unit in its Bank Supervision Department. The role centers on monitoring the safety and efficiency of the national payments system and the payment and settlement systems of financial institutions, with a focus on compliance with payments and settlements regulation, fair access and competition, and prudential and other statutory requirements. Key responsibilities include supporting analysis and examination of payment system design, operations and products, helping apply internationally accepted principles and standards, identifying risks and recommending corrective action, and assessing internal controls and operational risks among payment system stakeholders. The post also involves research and data collection to track trends, issues, risks and developments in payment systems. Candidates must hold either an honours degree in business management, accounting, economics or banking, or a relevant professional qualification with at least two years' experience in a financial or regulatory environment, alongside training in risk, project and supervisory management.
