The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on a meeting, held on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group annual meetings, between Tajikistan’s official delegation and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to review progress on joint projects and discuss support for priority infrastructure. Discussions covered ongoing cooperation in energy, transport and social infrastructure, with particular focus on AIIB’s role in financing strategic projects including the Rogun hydropower plant, refurbishment of the Nurek hydropower plant, and the construction of roads and bridges. The agenda also included potential expansion of cooperation in green energy, transport connectivity, sustainable water-resource use and mobilising long-term investment; Tajikistan’s delegation indicated continued structural reforms and efforts to attract foreign investment, and both sides expressed interest in deepening cooperation.
