The National Bank of Moldova, working with the Association of Banks in Moldova, AmCham Moldova and the International Finance Corporation, convened a workshop on Moldova’s green finance taxonomy and presented a sustainable finance taxonomy framework that is being prepared for public consultation. The draft regulatory act establishing the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy is in the final stage of development and has been sent to members of the Sustainable Finance Consultative Group for review. The session walked participants through the assessment process and practical applications, using European Union examples and sector case studies, and highlighted links between taxonomy, sustainability reporting and broader EU green regulation. The initiative sits under the 2024–2028 Sustainable Finance Roadmap action plan and an IFC sustainable finance project aimed at embedding sustainable finance in Moldova’s regulatory framework, strengthening capacity across the financial system, reducing greenwashing risk and supporting climate-friendly investment.
