The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) issued an order refusing to renew the life and accident and sickness agent licence of Hong Wei Liao under Ontario’s Insurance Act. FSRA found Liao not suitable to hold an insurance agent licence under section 4 of Ontario Regulation 347/04, citing the provision of false information in the licence application and past conduct giving reasonable grounds to believe she would not conduct insurance business in accordance with the law and with integrity and honesty. The order was issued after Liao withdrew her request for a hearing before the Financial Services Tribunal.
