The Chile Financial Market Commission sanctioned Renta Nacional Compañía de Seguros Generales S.A. with a UF 150 fine after finding that, between October 2021 and January 2025, it sold insurance through sales agents that were not enrolled in the Registry of Insurance Sales Agents and through insurance brokers whose registrations in the Registry of Insurance Trade Auxiliaries had been cancelled. The conduct was found to breach Articles 57 and 58 of Decree with Force of Law No. 251, the Insurance Law, and General Rule No. 471. Under those requirements, insurance companies must verify in the public registry that brokers are duly authorized to sell policies and that sales agents are enrolled and permitted to market insurance, which the CMF found did not occur in this case.
