The International Association of Insurance Supervisors has put into effect its new committee-level structure from 1 January 2026, with three new committees now operational: the Monitoring and Risk Assessment Committee, the Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee and the Implementation Assessment Committee. Under the new structure, the Monitoring and Risk Assessment Committee continues to oversee monitoring and assessment of global insurance sector developments and risks, including detection of potential systemic risk build-up, and is chaired by Dieter Hendrickx (National Bank of Belgium). The Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee is responsible for setting and maintaining IAIS global standards and supporting member implementation and good supervisory practices, and is co-chaired by Farzana Badat (Financial Sector Conduct Authority, South Africa) and Judi French (Ohio Department of Insurance, United States). The Implementation Assessment Committee will focus exclusively on assessing globally consistent and comprehensive implementation of IAIS standards, chaired by Vicky White (Prudential Regulation Authority, United Kingdom). A more flexible reporting structure for subcommittees also applies, with reporting to one or more committees on a per project or activity basis as determined by the annual Roadmap.
