The Czech National Bank has sold its building in Ústí nad Labem to the Ministry of the Interior’s Police Presidium of the Czech Republic, which submitted the highest bid at CZK 43 million. The sale, approved by the CNB Bank Board on 8 January 2026, forms part of the central bank’s longer-term strategy to manage assets more efficiently, reduce costs and concentrate operations in more efficient premises. The CNB had used only part of the building for several years. Under an agreement with the buyer, it will continue to use the currently occupied premises under a commercial lease until the end of 2026. From 2027, the CNB plans to communicate with clients predominantly through digital channels. The sale process was announced in 2025 and brokered by Cushman & Wakefield, with bids submitted over several rounds before a sealed-bid final phase in which the Police Presidium’s offer was judged the highest and most economically favourable.
