The Central Bank of Nepal reported that Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari met Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das in Mumbai to discuss cross-border electricity payment transactions between Nepal and India and wider bilateral interests, including facilitating QR code-based payments for Nepali travellers in India. The discussions also covered the Reserve Bank of India’s policy practices on monetary policy, liquidity management, foreign exchange management, AI-based supervision and information technology, alongside cooperation and exchanges on emerging financial-sector issues. The Nepali delegation included executive directors responsible for foreign exchange management, payment systems and bank supervision. During the visit, the Governor also met International Financial Services Centres Authority officials in Ahmedabad to discuss the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City concept, its current status, investment-promotion policies and potential areas for cooperation with the Central Bank of Nepal.
