Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defence of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published complaint and recovery statistics for Quintana Roo, reporting 5,817 complaints in 2024, up 21.1% from 2023 and representing 2.3% of complaints nationwide. The state recorded 557 complaints in January 2025, while recoveries reached MXN 31.9 million in 2024 (up 62.8% year on year) and MXN 1.5 million in January 2025. Credit cards, debit cards and the special credit report were the most complained-about products, together accounting for 50.4% of complaints in the state. The leading drivers in 2024 were unrecognised charges, failure to update credit history and failure to delete credit history, which together made up 25.9% of complaints (22.8% in January 2025). By sector, multiple banking accounted for 57.9% of complaints, followed by credit information companies (15.5%) and insurers (12.3%); in multiple banking, 40.8% of cases were resolved in users’ favour in 2024 (38.8% in January 2025), 24.2% involved older adults, and 47.5% of complaints related to possible fraud, mainly unrecognised charges and unrecognised electronic transfers. CONDUSEF also reiterated that its procedures are free of charge and pointed users to its digital service channels, including its electronic complaint portal and the REDECO registry for reporting debt-collection malpractice, while warning against third parties requesting money to process filings.
