The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization has appointed Brett Kimak, Rob Wells and Christine Zalzal to its Investor Advisory Panel. The panel helps shape regulatory policy, annual priorities, strategic plans and other key initiatives by bringing investor issues into CIRO’s work and supporting its public interest mandate. The appointments come as CIRO highlights the need to reflect investor perspectives as new products, services and channels emerge, including advice models, order-execution-only platforms, crypto assets, prediction markets and other technology-driven offerings. Kimak brings nearly 30 years of experience in securities regulation, governance, risk and compliance, including complaint handling, enforcement and senior leadership roles at regulated investment management and wealth management firms. Wells brings nearly four decades in Canadian capital markets as an investment adviser, branch manager and senior executive, with experience in dealer and adviser complaint handling, regulatory compliance, investor advisory services and retail investor reporting issues. Zalzal brings more than 35 years in banking, wealth management and insurance, including leadership of a Canadian order-execution-only brokerage firm where she oversaw digital transformation, client experience and complaint handling initiatives, including AI-enabled investor tools. All Investor Advisory Panel members are appointed for a minimum term of two years.
