The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) issued a public warning about malicious websites that claim to help investors recover losses from investments in regulated or unregulated entities and falsely present themselves as being connected to CySEC. CySEC identified getyourmoneyback.ltd, getyoursback.org, theystole.net, chargebackinternational.com, chargebackme.com and chargebackmoney.biz as unaffiliated sites, and noted that other similar websites may exist. The sites are promoted online and on social media, mainly targeting victims of online fraud, and seek to obtain personal and financial information via websites, emails and phone calls, including through email addresses resembling the CySEC domain. CySEC stressed it does not contact individuals by telephone or send unsolicited correspondence, does not request personal or financial information, has no authority to collect fees from individual investors or appoint anyone to do so, and does not authorise or engage in class actions, compensation schemes or payments between parties. Investors are urged to verify communications with CySEC before acting and to avoid sending money to anyone claiming to represent the regulator.
