The Angola Capital Markets Commission held an award ceremony in Luanda for the fourth edition of its national “CMC and Universities” scientific competition, an initiative aimed at encouraging academic research on capital markets and strengthening financial literacy among university students. The Catholic University of Angola won first place and received a cash prize and a professional internship at the Commission. The Commission reported that 42 papers were submitted, a 14% increase compared with 2023, by student groups from 20 institutions across six provinces. The competition ran in three phases from October 2024 to June 2025, with the five best projects selected by a six-member internal jury; prizes and event costs were fully funded by the Commission for approximately AOA 7,260,000. Awards included AOA 1,500,000, three laptops and an internship for the first-place team (Catholic University of Angola), AOA 900,000 for second place (Higher Institute of Administration and Finance), and AOA 600,000 for third place (Agostinho Neto University). In its conclusions, the Commission recommended continuing the competition, framing it as a mechanism to broaden financial education and strengthen links between the regulator and Angola’s university community.
