The Bank of the Lao published an update on an expanded meeting of its party executive committee, which reviewed the committee’s leadership and implementation of political tasks in the first half of 2026 and examined four draft internal documents intended to guide its future work. The meeting, the third plenary session of the committee’s fifth term, was held at the central bank and was attended by 66 participants including party committee members, the governor’s board, party unit secretaries and deputy secretaries, and provincial branch heads. The four draft documents covered a six-month assessment of the committee’s overall work, guidance on building clean, strong and stable party units within the Bank of the Lao, a resolution on managing officials and civil servants within organizations led by the party committee, and an activity plan for the bank’s three mass organizations. Participants provided comments on all four drafts, which the update said will serve as the basis for the committee’s practical work going forward. At the close of the meeting, the committee’s secretary set out implementation priorities, including regular and in-depth political and ideological training, strengthening party and staff development in both quantity and quality, improving leadership methods and work practices, and pushing forward specialist work by focusing on delivery of plans and projects in the banking sector.
