The UK's Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) has appointed Claire Simpson as interim Head of Policy with immediate effect following a competitive process, making her a member of the PSR’s Executive Team and placing her in charge of delivering the regulator’s portfolio of policy projects. She replaces Kate Fitzgerald, who will leave the PSR on 30 April. Simpson was previously a senior manager in the PSR’s Policy Department and a member of its leadership team, including leading work on authorised push payment scams. The remit includes policy work on card fees, payment scams, payment infrastructure, and delivery of the National Payments Vision, including the PSR’s role in Variable Recurring Payments and open banking, alongside bringing the policy function and work closer to the Financial Conduct Authority as the authorities move towards consolidation.
