The Association of Southeast Asian Nations reported that Southeast Asian countries attracted a record USD 243.9 billion in foreign investment in 2025, marking the fifth consecutive year that inflows exceeded USD 200 billion. At their annual investment meeting, ministers emphasized the need to attract projects that support innovation, quality jobs, stronger industrial capabilities and sustainable development, rather than focusing only on investment volumes. Investment is concentrated in areas including electronics manufacturing, digital and technology industries, clean energy, power grids and digital infrastructure. In the Philippines, projects approved in 2025 and the first half of 2026 are projected to create more than 200,000 jobs, while 239 projects worth PHP 6.32 trillion certified under the Green Lane program are expected to employ about 421,000 people once fully operational. The meeting’s outcomes will inform recommendations for ASEAN leaders at the 49th ASEAN Summit in Manila in November 2026.
