Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) Northern Zone coordinated and participated in an insurance education and sports festival at the Arusha Institute of Accountancy, aimed at building insurance awareness and practical understanding among students, with more than 300 attendees. The programme covered different forms of insurance and the benefits of taking cover. Northern Zone Manager Dr Emmanuel Lupilya framed insurance as central to protecting assets, health and the wider community, and as a mechanism to shift the burden of disasters away from government and towards insurance companies registered by TIRA. The event also linked insurance education with sports as part of developing youth innovation and future leadership. TIRA indicated plans to roll out similar activities across the regions and districts covered by the Northern Zone, targeting communities that have not been reached by insurance, including rural areas. It also referenced plans to establish a collaborative agency arrangement connected to the college and to encourage insurers to develop products that address major challenges in Tanzania.
