The Angola Capital Markets Commission issued a public correction to the results of the fifth CMC and Universities scientific research competition after an error at the June 15 award ceremony led to winners being announced that did not match the final ranking validated by the jury. The commission said the mistake arose in the public communication of the results, not in the assessment of submitted work, and it apologized to participating higher education institutions, student entrants and the public. Under the corrected ranking, first place went to the Higher Institute of Social Sciences and International Relations for the paper "Impact of Financial and Accounting Performance on Stock Market Performance". Second place went to the Catholic Polytechnic Higher Institute of Huambo for "Development of Fintechs in Angola", and third place to the Polytechnic Higher Institute of Technologies and Sciences for "The Balance Between Freedom of Trading and the Stability of the Angolan Capital Market". The commission said the evaluation process was conducted independently and in line with the competition rules. The commission said it will adopt internal measures to prevent similar incidents in future editions. It also said it will continue the initiative, which is aimed at promoting financial literacy, academic research and university engagement with Angola's capital market.
