The Bank of Cape Verde announced a month-long “Savings Week” programme, running from 24 October to 24 November 2025, to mark World Savings Day and promote financial education and saving habits among the population, in partnership with a range of public and civil-society organisations. The campaign opens at the Bank of Cape Verde auditorium on 24 October with an open discussion on the importance of financial education, aimed at beneficiaries of the Cape Verde Armed Forces’ “Citizen Soldier” project and focused on building an emergency fund. Activities are also planned in Praia and Assomada, and include outreach in schools and communities through open talks, lectures, conferences and guided visits to the Bank of Cape Verde Museum. In collaboration with the Cape Verdean Society of Authors, the programme also covers financial education for creative industries and creative entrepreneurship, alongside broader topics on money, the financial system, the role of the Bank of Cape Verde and saving behaviours, with particular emphasis on children, young people and women. A dedicated World Savings Day conference is scheduled for 31 October at the Bank of Cape Verde auditorium, focusing on financial education for creative industries and on turning talent into business.
