U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Adam Schiff asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether Trump Media & Technology Group’s reported plan to sell faster access to market-moving Truth Social posts would violate federal securities laws. The planned Truth API service would reportedly charge banks and trading firms USD 60,000 to USD 100,000 a month for the fastest access to posts from 10 influential accounts, including President Donald Trump’s account. The senators argued that the speed advantage could benefit high-frequency traders and other paying subscribers over ordinary investors, while Trump could profit through his roughly 41% ownership of Trump Media. They requested answers before the service’s planned Aug. 1 launch.
