Argentina’s Ministry of Finance has signed a renewed memorandum of understanding with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), adding financial cooperation for projects under the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) as a central focus. The agreement covers strategic sectors including oil and gas, energy and mining. The tripartite agreement includes the Bank of the Argentine Nation (BNA) and establishes mechanisms for cooperation in sectors of shared interest. Originally signed in 2018 and renewed in 2023, the memorandum was renewed again at a meeting in Tokyo attended by Deputy Economy Minister José Luis Daza. JBIC and the ministry have signed, but the renewal will take full effect only after BNA obtains the necessary internal approvals and completes its signature.
