The Central Bank of Egypt has opened a set of medical projects and units at Cairo University's National Cancer Institute that were developed and equipped with support from the central bank and Egyptian banks under the banking sector's corporate social responsibility efforts. The newly opened facilities include the Hossam Kamel bone marrow transplant unit, a hematology unit and an upgraded outpatient and medical services complex. The additions increase service capacity to about 400 patients a year and support outpatient clinics that receive around 1,500 patients a day. The outpatient complex brings together a range of specialized services, including oncological surgery, hematologic malignancies, adult and pediatric solid tumors, radiotherapy, pain management, dentistry, cardiac testing, clinical nutrition, early detection, anesthesia and psychological support. Officials also reviewed ongoing development and construction at the institute's north hospital and middle building, as well as upgraded inpatient, pediatric day-treatment and women's health units equipped with new medical technology. The opening follows an earlier phase in which the institute's south building was rehabilitated and fitted with updated systems and medical equipment with Central Bank of Egypt support. Further development and تجهيزment work is continuing at the north hospital and middle building, according to the release.
