The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has announced the members of its Innovation Task Force, led by Michael J. Passalacqua, to support development of a clearer regulatory framework for innovators working with crypto assets and blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, and prediction markets and event contracts. The Task Force will draw on staff from across CFTC divisions and offices alongside individuals with private sector experience on these topics. Initial members named as senior advisors are Hank Balaban, formerly with Latham & Watkins; Sam Canavos, formerly with Patomak Global Partners; Mark Fajfar, from the CFTC’s Office of the General Counsel; Eugene Gonzalez IV, formerly with Sidley Austin; and Dina Moussa, from the CFTC’s Market Participants Division.
