The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has reported that former Western Australian director Joanne Pellew was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, with a non-parole period of one year and nine months. A jury had found her guilty of three counts of dishonestly using her position as a director and one count of managing corporations while disqualified under the Corporations Act 2001. The convictions related to three transfers totaling about AUD 739,655 from Ochre Training Pty Ltd to Ochre Workforce Solutions Pty Ltd in May 2018 and Pellew’s participation in a labor hire agreement involving Ochre People Pty Ltd in June 2019 while disqualified. She had been automatically disqualified from managing corporations after being declared bankrupt in February 2019. The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions prosecuted the case following an ASIC investigation and referral.
