The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance reported that Superintendent Guillermo Plate, who also serves as president of the Association of Latin American Insurance Supervisors, took part in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners International Insurance Forum 2026 in Washington, D.C. The main practical outcome was progress on a new cooperation agenda between the two organisations, including the first initiatives under a joint regional project to analyse and assess catastrophic risks for Latin American insurance supervisors. Alongside the forum, a bilateral meeting followed the recent admission of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners as an associate member of the Association of Latin American Insurance Supervisors. The joint agenda covers climate resilience, protection gaps, risk-based supervision and technical strengthening. During the forum’s financial education panel, Plate also addressed financial inclusion and protection gaps in Latin America, focusing on broader access to insurance, stronger policyholder protection, and digital and regulatory tools to improve understanding of and access to cover.
