The Central Bank of Luxembourg published provisional banking statistics showing the aggregate balance sheet total of Luxembourg credit institutions reached EUR 980,840 million as at 28 February 2025, up from EUR 969,410 million as at 31 January 2025. On a year-on-year basis, the balance sheet total increased by 4.37%. On the asset side, the monthly increase was mainly driven by higher claims on other banks and deposit-taking institutions, while on the liability side it was mainly supported by higher liabilities to other sectors. The interbank balance (claims minus interbank liabilities) increased by EUR 2,934 million (1.24%) to EUR 240,333 million at end-February 2025, while loans to non-bank customers rose by EUR 86 million (0.08%) month-on-month and by EUR 1,563 million (1.38%) over 12 months. Over February 2024 to February 2025, lending to non-financial corporations fell by EUR 4,564 million (16.34%), mortgage lending to households increased by EUR 252 million (0.62%), and lending to other financial intermediaries rose by EUR 6,330 million (17.16%); on the liability side, resident non-bank deposits increased by EUR 4,228 million (1.42%) month-on-month and by EUR 31,823 million (11.77%) over 12 months.

The Central Bank of Luxembourg reported that the aggregate balance sheet total of Luxembourg credit institutions reached EUR 980,840 million as of 28 February 2025, marking a 4.37% year-on-year increase. The monthly rise was driven by higher claims on banks and deposit-taking institutions, with notable increases in interbank balances and loans to non-bank customers. Lending to non-financial corporations decreased by 16.34%, while mortgage lending to households and lending to other financial intermediaries rose by 0.62% and 17.16%.
