The Reserve Bank of New Zealand announced the appointment of Rodger Finlay as Chair of the RBNZ Board and Rhiannon McKinnon as a new Board member. The appointments were made by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance following an appointment process run by Te Tai Ohanga, The Treasury. Finlay, who has been exercising the functions of Chair since 29 August 2025, previously served on the RBNZ Transition Board from October 2021 and joined the RBNZ Board on 1 July 2022, becoming Deputy Chair from 1 February 2023. McKinnon’s experience includes managing complex financial operations such as hedging programmes, bond issuance and M&A, alongside senior executive and board roles including CEO of Kiwi Wealth; she is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds an MA from the University of Cambridge. Finlay will serve as Chair until 30 June 2027, while McKinnon’s five-year term runs from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2030.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand appointed Rodger Finlay as Chair of the RBNZ Board and Rhiannon McKinnon as a new Board member, with terms ending in 2027 and 2030, respectively.
