The Capital Markets Board of Türkiye has issued a public warning after receiving reports that individuals have been presenting themselves as board executives, employees or their relatives, and using the names or titles of the board’s chair, managers and staff to seek money, donations or other material requests from people and organizations. It said neither the board nor its personnel make any requests for money, donations or other financial demands through phone calls, text messages, email, social media or other communication channels. The board said such attempts should not be trusted and may constitute fraud under the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237. People who have been harmed through these methods may file criminal complaints with the competent judicial authorities and pursue their legal rights to recover losses.
