The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission is coordinating with Sompo Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited to protect the beneficiary’s rights under a travel insurance policy held by Hlun Solo, or Bowornthat Pengsuk, following his death in Georgia. The policy provides THB 5 million of coverage for death caused by an accident or murder but excludes death from illness. Any claim payment will depend on the official determination of the cause of death, the policy terms and certified information from the relevant authorities. The insurer is awaiting that determination and the beneficiary’s supporting documents, and will pay the claim promptly if the death is covered and the documentation is complete. It has also agreed to cover costs associated with repatriating the body to Thailand before the cause-of-death examination is completed.
