The State Bank of Vietnam published an update on a high-level bilateral dialogue with the Bank of Thailand in Bangkok on 11 September 2025, co-chaired by Governors Nguyễn Thị Hồng and Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput. The talks covered each country’s macroeconomic situation and policy management, including challenges linked to recent volatility in international trade, and set priorities for future operational cooperation between the two central banks. Discussion also focused on banking-sector developments and the impact of major economies’ trade policies, alongside practical exchanges on strengthening inspection and supervision. The two sides shared difficulties and experience in coordination and supervisory effectiveness in the context of the State Bank of Vietnam’s recent organisational restructuring, and compared approaches to supervision, statistics and data collection, including the application of artificial intelligence and financial technology. Both governors agreed to maintain a regular high-level dialogue mechanism, with the next bilateral dialogue planned to take place in Vietnam in 2026.
