The Guernsey Financial Services Commission welcomed Guernsey’s recognition at the WealthBriefing Wealth for Good Awards 2026, where the island won the Sustainability Programme (UK) category. In the Commission’s account, the award reflects the combined work of government, industry and the regulator in building a sustainable finance ecosystem, including regulatory measures aimed at supporting credible sustainable finance products and giving investors confidence that sustainability claims are subject to standards and verification. The Commission pointed to several initiatives underpinning that framework. These include the Guernsey Green Fund, described as the world’s first regulated green fund regime, and the Natural Capital Fund, a regulated designation for investment schemes that make a positive contribution to the natural world or significantly reduce harm to nature. It also cited a green capital regime for life insurers designed to encourage investment in suitable green assets, alongside Guernsey’s wider use of humanitarian catastrophe bonds, reinsurance structures and responsible captive insurance structures.
