The National Bank of Moldova published its analysis of banks’ cash operations in the national currency for 2025, showing cumulative cash withdrawals totalled MDL 189.63bn and exceeded cumulative cash receipts across the banking system by MDL 5.96bn. Cumulative cash receipts reached MDL 183.67bn, up MDL 9.64bn (5.5%) year on year. Receipts from the sale of consumer goods amounted to MDL 107.24bn, representing 58.4% of total receipts and rising by MDL 4.80bn (4.7%), while cash credited to individuals’ current and deposit accounts totalled MDL 18.39bn, up MDL 2.32bn (14.4%). Cumulative cash withdrawals increased by MDL 9.98bn (5.6%) compared with the previous year; the reported receipt and withdrawal volumes include transactions in commemorative coins.
