The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that annual growth in the M1B and M2 monetary aggregates slowed to 7.34% and 7.42%, respectively, in July 2026, mainly because of net foreign capital outflows. On a monthly daily-average basis, M1B contracted 0.71% and M2 declined 0.09%. Their average annual growth rates for the first seven months of 2026 were 7.87% and 6.60%, respectively. Total outstanding loans and investments of monetary financial institutions increased 1.17% during July, while annual growth accelerated to 9.07% from 8.80% at the end of June. The increase mainly reflected growth in bank claims on government enterprises and the government. Including life insurers’ loans and investments and loans reclassified or written off by monetary financial institutions, annual growth was 7.40%, up from 7.33%.
