The Belgium Financial Services and Markets Authority has published a communication warning that recent advances in Frontier AI Systems are sharply increasing cyber risk for the firms it supervises. It says regulated entities, including those that have regarded themselves as relatively low risk because of their size or activities, should reassess both the likelihood and the potential impact of cyberattacks on their systems. The communication calls on entities subject to the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) to swiftly implement all measures required under the regulation, warning that failure to do so would leave them much more exposed to cyberattacks. It adds that those measures are also relevant for financial entities that are not subject to DORA.
