The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has designated George R. Botic to serve as Acting Chair of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), effective July 23, 2025, following the resignation of PCAOB Chair Erica Y. Williams effective July 22, 2025. Botic is a Certified Public Accountant and became a PCAOB Board Member on October 25, 2023. Before joining the Board, he led the PCAOB’s Division of Registration and Inspections, overseeing the registration and inspection of domestic and foreign accounting firms that audit public companies whose securities trade in the United States, as well as broker-dealer audits. The PCAOB was established by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and oversees audits of public companies, brokers, and dealers through registration, standard setting, inspection, and disciplinary programs, with the Commission selecting the Board’s members and chair.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed George R. Botic as Acting Chair of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) effective July 23, 2025, following Erica Y. Williams' resignation. Botic, a Certified Public Accountant and PCAOB Board Member since October 2023, previously led the PCAOB’s Division of Registration and Inspections.
