The Islamic Development Bank Group and French Development Agency Group reviewed priorities for deepening their partnership on the sidelines of the 2026 World Bank-International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings. The institutions agreed to pursue practical steps to turn their 2023-2028 cooperation framework into a more structured programme of co-financing and joint development operations. The proposed approach includes earlier engagement across the project cycle to improve the preparation and implementation of joint operations, alongside closer technical collaboration on procurement, compliance, and environmental and social safeguards. The institutions also identified North Africa and the Sahel, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia as potential areas for regional cooperation, with work planned to identify priority sectors and pilot projects.
