The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo hosted an International Monetary Fund (IMF) technical assistance mission as part of a multi-year project to strengthen its macroeconomic modelling, forecasting and policy analysis capacity. Led by Yunhui Zhao from the IMF’s headquarters, the mission follows earlier discussions at the Annual Meetings in Washington, DC, the central bank’s formal request for support and an initial mission in September 2025. The work aims to build a sustainable analytical infrastructure for reliable forecasts and scenario analysis, including scenarios for policy discussions and macro-financial stress testing, aligned with the central bank’s strategic plan; Governor Ahmet Ismaili also briefed the IMF team on recent financial-sector developments and reforms undertaken by the central bank. The central bank and IMF team reconfirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and to implementing the project.
