Mexico's Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, through the Financial Intelligence Unit, signed a cooperation agreement with the Superior Audit Office of the Federation to broaden information sharing and joint analysis aimed at detecting corruption, misuse of public resources and transactions involving illicit proceeds. The agreement expands cooperation established in February 2024 and supports the development of intelligence products, risk models, typologies and technology enabled analysis of institutional databases. The audit office may provide information obtained through audits and its oversight of public spending, while the Financial Intelligence Unit may share relevant intelligence derived from reports and notices, subject to applicable rules. A joint working group will coordinate implementation and produce operational and strategic analysis, indicators, alerts, guidance and best practices in line with Financial Action Task Force standards and recommendations.
