The Bank of the Lao convened the fifth congress of delegates of its Party Committee, reviewing implementation of the previous term’s resolutions over the past five years and debating a draft 2026–2030 development plan for the financial and monetary system, with priorities set through 2030. Delegates also elected the Party leadership for the fifth term within the central bank. A total of 149 delegates (55 women) attended, representing 1,046 party members, with Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith present. Elections produced a 17-member Party Executive Committee, a five-member standing committee and a three-member Party Inspection Commission, with Bounkham Vorachit elected as Party Committee secretary, Vathana Daraloy as deputy secretary and Arun Boonyong as inspection chair, and eight delegates were chosen for the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party’s 12th national congress (six full, two alternate). Party units were tasked with translating the congress outcomes into detailed work plans and projects for implementation.
