The National Bank of Angola reported that the Technical Commission for the Development of Angola’s Payment System (CTDSPA) held its fifth ordinary meeting to review the operation and development of the Angola Payment System (SPA) and related initiatives, and issued recommendations to participants and working groups. The agenda covered the status of the SPA, the Instant Transfer System (STI) and its development plan, progress by CTDSPA working groups, the potential impact of central bank digital currency, crypto-assets and stablecoins on the SPA, the open banking project, and an update on the revision of Notice No. 03/18 on minimum banking services. Recommendations included meeting development deadlines for KWiK, with specific emphasis on making QR code-initiated payments available by 31 March 2026, continuing workstreams with a focus on the fraud prevention working group, confirming members’ participation interests in CTDSPA working groups by 15 February 2026, and designating focal points for the open banking working group by 15 February 2026. The next CTDSPA meetings are scheduled for 27 April and 30 November 2026.
